Flexpoint 10/100 Copper to Fibre Unmanaged Media Converters

Omnitron have a range of unmanaged media converters that provide connectivity between different media types. The Flexpoint 10/100 are modular media converters that convert from 10BaseT and 100BaseTx Unshielded Twisted Pair copper cable to 100BaseFx fibre.

These media converters are individual modules that can be wall-mounted or used as standalone desktop devices to media conversion between networked devices. Alternatively, they can be rack-mounted in a 5-module enclosure, and for  larger installations Omnitron manufacture a 14-module powered chassis. AC power is standard, but they can be DC powered by means of an optional DC power supply with a DC power range of 18-60 Volts DC.

The copper 10/100 ports are auto sensing of speed and duplex by default to ensure compatibility with attached devices, and a manual override switch provides the user with manual control over these settings when needed.

The copper ports can be set for connection to any network device such as a router, switch or hub through the MDI and MDI-x switch and these devices have a 1 Megabyte buffer for incoming frames. LEDs on the converter indicate power, link status, port activity as well as speed and duplex modes.

The fibre ports are designed to operate at either 1550nm or 1310nm at distances up to 5 Kilometres using multimode fibre and 120 Kilometres using single-mode fibre. The Flexpoint 10/100 range are available with ST, SC, LC or MT-RJ connectors to suit any network environment and application.

Flexibility of connectivity and power options make the Flexpoint range adaptable to any scenario within your network that requires copper to fibre media conversion.

Omnitron Miniature Media Converters

Omnitron Systems produce a wide range of media conversion products for data networks. Probably the most popular of these is the miConverter series of unmanaged media converters. They come with a range of media compatibility and connector types from 100BaseFX to 1000BaseX and SC or ST connectors. www.ipexpress.co.uk have the whole Omnitron range of media converters for sale with lead times as little as 2-5 days.
The miConverter S-Series of media converters convert 10 or 100 mbps Ethernet over copper to 100 or 1000 Mbps Ethernet over Fibre. Some models support AC or DC power and can also be USB powered, for applications where other power options are not available. Power the miConverters direct from a laptop or desktop PC that has a spare USB slot.
If DC power is required then each media converter comes with the option of an AC Adapter to fit the standards in use in a particular country or area of the World. For example, a UK external AC power supply is available with all models.
Two of the most popular media converter models available from www.ipexpress.co.uk are the miConverter 10/100 and miConverter 10/100 Plus models which are rate switching copper to fibre media converters, which convert from 10/100 Mbps copper to 100 Mbps fibre.
The Unshielded Twisted Pair copper port uses auto negotiation to determine both the speed and duplex of any connected devices, and adjusts automatically. Additionally, the copper ports also provide an auto-crossover feature, meaning you don’t have to use crossover cables when connecting to certain network devices. Instead, just use a standard straight-through patch cable and let the miConverter determine whether the port should be a MDI or MDI-X port.
Choose a model to suit your operational requirements, such as Multimode fibre or Single-Mode fibre, with communication distances available up to 5Km with Mutimode models and 120Km with Single-Mode models.
DIP switches allow manual configuration of duplex and speed as well as providing some diagnostic services such as Link Segment, Link Propagate, Fault Detection and Symmetrical Fault Detection.
